I really love military life. Deployments are definitely rough but doable. There is only one thing I hate about the military…soldiers that are KIA(killed in action). Today my husband went to a memorial service for a young airman, Scott Forester, that was KIA in Afghanistan. This young man was one of many children and a devout Mormon. He had a masters degree from the University of Alabama and served his two years of missions after he finished college. It was during his time in missions that he felt God calling him to enlist in the Air Force and become a Combat Controller specifically to kill terrorists. In May of 2010 he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. It was on that deployment that Scott gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life. He and his team were out on a mission and came under intense enemy fire. A fellow soldier was injured by enemy fire and Scott went to his side to help him. That is when the enemy fire shot Scott in the chest and killed him instantly. He gave his life doing what he believed in and what he loved! He gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Please remember Scott and all those who gave their life for our freedom. Please remember their families as they mourn their sons and daughters that have given the ultimate sacrifice.
